We are in a short series of messages where we are looking together at the importance of Pentecost in the role of the early church. This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. The day in the church calendar when we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church.
The day of Pentecost was a reversal of the tower of Babel when because of sin, God confused the languages of the people of earth and now the coming of the Holy Spirit is a sign that God is bringing people back together through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Â The day of Pentecost 3000 people responded positively to the message of Peter, repented of their sins, were baptized and received the same Holy Spirit that the others had received and the church was born.
The Holy Spirit moved in the hearts of those who responded and they devoted themselves to some essentials. We at Trinity want to be devoted to the same things that the early church was devoted to. Today we want to look at “they were devoted to the breaking of the bread.†What does that mean and how can we be devoted to the “breaking of the bread?”
Nous suivons une courte série de messages à propos de l’importance de la Pentecôte dans l’Église primitive. Ce Dimanche sera le jour de la Pentecôte. C’est le jour du calendrier de l’Église où nous célébrons la descente de l’Esprit Saint et la naissance de l’Église.
Le jour de la Pentecôte est l’inverse des évènements de la tour de Babel car à cause du péché, Dieu a confondu les langages des humains et l’arrivée de l’Esprit Saint est un signe que Dieu rassemble à nouveau les gens à travers la mort et la résurrection du Seigneur Jésus. Le jour de la Pentecôte, 3000 personnes ont répondu positivement au message de Pierre, se repentant de leurs péchés, ils furent baptisés et reçurent ce même Esprit Saint que les autres avaient reçu et l’Église était née.
L’esprit Saint se meut dans les cÅ“urs de ceux qui répondirent se dévouèrent à l’essentiel. Nous-mêmes, à Trinity voulons nous dévouer aux même choses que celles de l’Église primitive. Ce Dimanche nous verrons comment “ils se dévouèrent au partage du pain.†Qu’est-ce que cela signifie et comment pouvons-nous nous dévouer au “partage du pain ?”
