Uzziah was King in Israel and the year that he died, Isaiah has a vision of the Lord. Uzziah is an example of a king who started out well but ended badly. The mention of the king reminds us that these kings whether good or bad, consistent or inconsistent were mere mortals. Their reign even if long would come to an end like that of every king ever before them.
Isaiah then had a vision of the eternal and true King, the one whose reign would never end. He is the one who consistently reigns in righteousness and holiness. When Isaiah had this vision, what did he see? He saw and awesome and holy God who was seated on the throne of the universe and wasn’t at a loss even though the Israelite king was dead. Then he saw his own sin and how he was not worthy to stand in the presence of a holy God until God did something to purify and cleanse Him. Then when he had been cleansed he heard the voice of God saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?â€
Cleansed by God, he was now able to hear and see the needs of those around Him. How about you? Are you cleansed? Do you see the needs?
Ozias était roi d’Israël et durant l’année de sa mort, Ésaïe eu une vision du Seigneur. Ozias est un exemple des ces rois qui avaient bien commencé mais très mal terminé. La mention de ce roi nous rappelle que ceux-ci étaient soit bons ou mauvais, consistants or inconsistants ils n’étaient que de simples mortels. Leurs règnes, aussi long fussent-ils, auraient une fin comme tous ceux des rois qui les ont précédés.
Ésaïe eut alors une vision de l’éternel vrai roi, celui dont le règne ne finirait jamais. Il est celui qui règne pour toujours en droiture et sainteté. Lorsque Ésaïe eut cette vision, qu’a t-il vu ? Il vit un Dieu formidable et saint siégeant sue le trône de l’univers, intact quand bien même le roi d’Israël était mort. Alors il vit son propre péché et comme il n’était pas digne d’apparaitre en la présence du Dieu saint tant que celui-ci n’avait rien fait pour le purifier et le laver. Et alors qu’il fut lavé, il entendu la voix de Dieu lui dire: “Qui enverrai-je ? Qui ira en notre nom ?â€
Lavés par Dieu, il était capable d’entendre et de voir les besoins de ceux qui l’entouraient. Et vous ? Avez-vous étés lavés ? Voyez-vous ces besoins ?
