Who is this man – Conclusion

Next Sunday at Trinity:
We are concluding today our series of messages “Who is this man?”
This week we see that He is the king who gets involved with us. We can’t talk about Easter without talking about the incarnation.

What is the incarnation? Incarnation means simply God taking on human flesh, God becoming a man. Scripture tells us who this man Jesus really is and we have taken the last few months to look deeply at him. He is the high and lofty one. Yet who was willing to come and get involved in our messy world. He is the captain who faced death for us. The word in Hebrews translated “author” is the Greek word arxigos – some translate this author, others pioneer, still others by champion or captain. A champion in ancient times was someone who engaged in representative combat. The champion faces the foe for you.

The author of Hebrews tells us that Jesus faced death for us and in doing that he vanquished death. And he is also a brother who accepts us. That is good news!

Nous terminons notre série de messages « Qui est cet homme ? »
Cette semaine nous voulons voir qu’Il est ce roi qui s’implique avec nous. Nous ne pouvons parler de Pâques sans mentionner l’incarnation.

Qu’est ce que l’incarnation ? Cela signifie simplement que Dieu s’est fait chair, Dieu est devenu homme. Les Écritures nous dise qui est réellement cet homme Jésus et nous avons passé ces derniers mois à chercher à le connaître plus profondément. Il est celui qui est élevé. Et qui pourtant a voulu venir s’impliquer dans notre monde désordonné. Il est le capitaine qui a affronté la mort pour nous. Le mot hébreux pour « auteur » est traduit en grec par « arxigos », certains disent auteur, d’autres pionnier, champion ou capitaine. Dans les temps anciens, un champion était celui qui s’engageait dans un combat représentatif. Le champion affronte l’ennemis pour vous.

L’auteur de l’épître aux Hébreux nous dit que Jésus affronta la mort pour nous et qu’il la vaincu. Et il est aussi un frère qui nous accepte. C’est une bonne nouvelle !
