    We have been studying together the book of Revelation and we come to the dramatic conclusion about a new heaven and new earth.  John’s final vision is of a bliss of the redeemed in the presence of God, what Christians have historically called going to heaven.  It is not the ending that we might expect, but a fresh beginning.
    “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth,†writes John. It is not just leaving this old wicked earth for a place of bliss called heaven. It is a completely remade heaven and earth. It is a new resurrected body that can sing, dance and eat and a life with heaven and earth joined together in the presence of God and the Lamb.
    Sometimes people look at John’s final vision and fear that heaven is going to be boring while we just sit around on clouds playing harps. But John shows us a beautiful holy city where everything is new and beautiful, death, sin, crying and pain are gone and we are living a life of joy in the presence of our Creator and with all those who are followers of the Lamb. Let’s look at it together.
    Nous continuons notre étude du livre de l’Apocalypse et arrivons à une conclusion dramatique à propos de nouveaux cieux et d’une nouvelle terre. La vision finale de Jean montre la joie immense des rachetés dans la présence de Dieu, ce que les Chrétiens ont toujours appelé les Cieux. Il ne s’agit pas d’une fin comme nous les connaissons, mais un nouveau commencement.
    “Et je vis alors de nouveaux cieux ainsi qu’une nouvelle terre,†écrit Jean. Il ne s’agit pas simplement de quitter cette vieille terre mauvaise pour un endroit merveilleux appelé les Cieux. Il s’agit de nouveaux cieux et d’une nouvelle terre entièrement refaits. C’est un nouveau corps ressuscité qui peut chanter, dancer et manger, ainsi qu’une vie dans un ciel et une terre réunis dans la présence de Dieu et de l’agneau.
    À la vue de cette vision, certains craignent que ces cieux soient d’un ennui terrible alors que nous resterons assis sur les nuages à jouer de la harpe. Mais Jean nous montre une cité belle et sainte où tout y est nouveau est beau, la mort, le péché, les pleurs et la douleur ne seront plus et nous vivrons dans la joie de la présence de notre Créateur ainsi qu’avec tout ceux qui auront suivi l’agneau. Voyons cela ensemble.
