How can I believe in a God who sends people to hell ? (John 3.16-21,36)

   We are continuing our series of messages entitled  “Answering Objections to the Christian Faith.”  We are trying to deal with the most difficult questions that we as Christians have to face in our modern society; the objections that others have to our faith. 

   This week we are looking at the teaching that God is a judge who sends to people to hell. The objection is essentially this: how can anyone believe in or love a God who sends people to hell?  Doesn’t this idea go directly against the idea that he loves people and desires to have a relationship with them?

   Many modern people have gotten rid of this notion and will tell you that is one of the things they have rejected about biblical Christianity; they don’t want to know a God who is angry or who will send anyone to hell but they prefer to think about and worship a God who is loving and accepting of all.  But perhaps we have gotten rid of too quickly and easily the idea of judgment for if there is no judgment day then evil will never finally be dealt with.  Let’s look at what the bible says about judgement day.

    Nous poursuivons cette nouvelle série de messages intitulée:  “Répondre aux Objections faites à l’encontre de la Foi Chrétienne.”  Nous tentons de répondre aux questions les plus difficiles auxquelles les Chrétiens doivent faire face au sein d’une société pluraliste; les objections que d’autres ont à propos de notre foi.

   Cette semaine nous étudierons cet enseignement selon lequel Dieu est un juge qui enverra certaines personnes en Enfer. L’objection est essentiellement la suivante: Comment peut-on croire ou aimer un Dieu qui envoie des gens en Enfer ?  Cette idée n’est-elle pas directement en contradiction avec le fait qu’Il aime les gens et désire une relation avec eux ? 

   Beaucoup de personnes de notre époque on rejeté cette notion parmi d’autres en ce qui concerne le Christianisme Biblique; Ils ne veulent pas connaître un Dieu de colère ou qui envoie les gens en Enfer. Ils préfèrent imaginer et adorer un Dieu qui aime et accepte toutes choses. Mais peut-être avons-nous abandonné un peu trop rapidement l’idée d’un jugement car s’il n’y a pas de jugement final, alors nous ne serons jamais débarrassé du mal. Voyons ce que la Bible nous dit à propos du jugement dernier.
